Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hardcourt
A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his initial trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.
Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a difficult year, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the American major.
The player's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in particular - resulted in him falling of the top ten and eventually parting ways with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.
Presently training with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Moutet.
This marks the player's first trophy since the Rome competition and maiden on a hard court after March of that year.
Success also means the Russian has achieved twenty-one titles at twenty-one different tournaments.
"It's the first time I'm at a event with my both daughters at once, so to win a title is particularly special," stated world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.
"This championship is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my older daughter her name was born was for her."
The tennis star, the former major winner, had failed in his past six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.
His retrieving approach and frequent outbursts on court had led some to doubt if his skill to play at the top level was finished.
Yet the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and perform aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.
Medvedev recovered from a break down in the first set against the tricky opponent, securing 4 of the concluding five games to go ahead.
Both players exchanged break points in the following set before Moutet, attempting for his initial professional victory, seized the initiative to force a decider.
The opponent defended 4 early-game break points in a tight third set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to secure the win.
Appropriately, he earned the title with a rally at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
